David Kirchner is a political scientist and studied in Munich and Heidelberg, specialising in "Comparative Analysis of Political Systems". He has been an editor at the Portal for Political Science.

He previously worked for an NGO in the field of global poverty reduction and wrote texts for various media. He specialises in research on democracy, political parties and populism. He is also interested in questions of political economy and political theory. As an external lecturer, he offers seminars at the Free University of Berlin, most recently on the relationship between democracy and capitalism.
