Dr Astrid Kuhn has been Managing Director of the Science and Democracy Foundation since 2015 and Chairwoman of the Executive Board since 2020.
She studied political science, sociology and education at the CAU in Kiel and wrote her doctoral thesis on "The Federal Constitutional Court and Parliamentarism".
As an expert on the functioning of parliamentary democracies, she is particularly interested in the interaction between science and democracy and in questions of democratic political leadership.
Prior to her position as Managing Director, she was a research assistant to the founder Prof Dr Eberhard Schuett-Wetschky at the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science at Kiel University from 2009 to 2015.
She is a certified foundation manager and has many years of experience as an executive in non-profit management.
