Dr Sebastian Galka

Dr Sebastian Galka has been a member of the Executive Board of the Science and Democracy Foundation since 2015 and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board since 2020. He studied political science, medieval and modern history and sociology at Kiel University and at the University of Hull, UK, and completed his doctorate on the history of the drafting of the Basic Law in the Parliamentary Council in 1948/49 under the title "Parlamentarismuskritik und Grundgesetz".

Sebastian Galka is interested in constitutional law and questions of democratic transition - especially in Hungary - and is an expert on questions of parliamentary practice. From 2006 to 2015, he was a research assistant to the founder Prof Dr Eberhard Schuett-Wetschky at the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science, at Kiel University. He was appointed executor of his will. In this function, he organised the estate of Eberhard Schuett-Wetschky - including the library and the scientific legacy of the founder of SW&D.

He has been Managing Director of the Committee on Internal Affairs and Legal Affairs of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament since 2017.
