\"Parliaments in the Pandemic\": Scientific workshop in Kiel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What impact did the coronavirus pandemic have on the work of parliaments? To what extent were parliaments able to assert themselves against the government in the so-called \"hour of the executive\"?<\/em> These and other questions were addressed at the sixth scientific workshop of the international research network \"Parliaments in the Pandemic\" (PiP)<\/strong><\/a> dedicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a cooperation project between the Science and Democracy Foundation (SW&D) and the Institute for Parliamentary Research (IParl)<\/strong><\/a> and the Prague National Institute for Research on Socioeconomic Impacts of Diseases and Systemic Risks (SYRI)<\/strong><\/a> It took place on 30 September and 1 October 2024 in the foundation's new event facilities at Wall 40 in Kiel. In addition to the scientists present, other international participants joined in, so that the new event technology for hybrid formats was also subjected to its first successful baptism of fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PiP is an international research network that was founded during the coronavirus pandemic and has been supported by SW&D ever since. Its aim is to analyse how parliaments have dealt with the pandemic and how they have been influenced by it. To this end, detailed data was collected from 34 parliaments worldwide and is now being analysed. The results are currently being prepared for publication in a book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
