He also declared that he would support Ukraine in its defence campaign by supplying weapons. More than two years after this speech, the question arises: how serious is the German government and the supporting parties about this turning point?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/journal\/key\/sirius\/8\/2\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>current SIRIUS issue<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0illuminates aspects of this question with its essays and analyses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The article from&nbsp;<strong>Thomas J\u00e4ger<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-2002\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"Room for manoeuvre in German security policy after Russia's attack on Ukraine in 2022\"<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;takes a critical look at the narratives set by Olaf Scholz with regard to the opportunities for shaping a multipolar world.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2023-3002\/html\"><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thomas Horlohe<\/strong>&nbsp;argues in his contribution&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-2005\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"The \"turn of an era\" and the search for a paradigm for the post-liberal international order\"<\/strong><\/a>that the \"turnaround\" proclaimed by the Chancellor had raised great expectations, which had been thoroughly disappointed.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2023-3003\/html\"><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The contribution&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-2006\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"Attrition through multi-front pressure: How the axis of autocracies wants to bring the Western alliance to its knees\"<\/strong><\/a>, from&nbsp;<strong>Heiko Herold<\/strong>, explains where a policy that does not recognise the real dangers and risks, but instead focuses on multilateralism, can lead.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2023-4004\/html\"><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The brief analysis of&nbsp;<strong>Peter Eitel<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-2007\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"It's Geopolitics, Stupid!?
