Four contributions are based on a conference organised by the Society for Security Policy, which took place near Berlin in May 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Joachim Krause&nbsp;<\/strong>argues in his article,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3002\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"European security in the face of an abrupt or gradual decline in American security guarantees\"<\/strong><\/a>that it is high time for Europeans to think about how to deal with the fact that the USA is much less willing to give Europeans guarantees for their security.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2023-3002\/html\"><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The contribution from&nbsp;<strong>Rainer Meyer zum Felde<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3003\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"Can Europe stand its ground conventionally against a military threat from Russia?\"<\/strong><\/a>The question is whether and how a \"NATO of 31, without the USA\" could militarily assert itself against Russia (supported by China, North Korea and Iran).<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2023-3003\/html\"><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The brief analysis of&nbsp;<strong>Heiner Brau\u00df<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3005\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"The role of nuclear weapons in European security - is it possible without the USA?\"<\/strong><\/a>The report deals with the question of whether nuclear deterrence would be possible without the USA.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2023-4004\/html\"><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The brief analysis of&nbsp;<strong>Hans Christoph Atzpodien<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3006\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"Can Europe stand on its own two feet in the defence industry in the medium term?\"<\/strong><\/a>The report deals with the question of whether Europe can stand on its own two feet in the medium term in terms of the defence industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consequences of the election for Europe and the Middle East are also analysed, where the USA is increasingly withdrawing and demanding more responsibility from its partners in security matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The contribution from&nbsp;<strong>Rainer Hermann<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3004\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"The Gaza war and its consequences for the Middle East\"<\/strong><\/a>deals with the Gaza war, especially after the Hamas attack in October 2023, and its consequences for the Middle East.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alexander Rosemann<\/strong>&nbsp;offers in his brief analysis&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3007\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"The Houthi rebel attacks on ships in the Red Sea and their consequences\"<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;a corresponding overview.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The brief analysis of&nbsp;<strong>Lukas Theinert<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyter.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2024-3008\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>\"Russia and Turkey -
