This issue examines the reasons for this strategic error and at the same time follows developments in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The article <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyterbrill.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2022-4002\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\"Russia policy in the Merkel era\"<\/a><\/strong> from <strong>Andreas Heinemann-Gr\u00fcder<\/strong> examines how Germany clung to an illusionary Russia policy despite warnings until the Ukraine war destroyed this stance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Frank Umbach<\/strong> criticised in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyterbrill.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2022-4003\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\"Strategic errors, mistakes and misconceptions in German energy policy since 2002\"<\/a><\/strong> Germany's Russia and energy policy over the last two decades, which has led to mistrust in Europe, and calls for consequences for the energy transition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the article <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyterbrill.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2022-4004\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\"Strategic errors of German foreign policy in retrospect - the years from 1890 to 1914\"<\/a> <\/strong>draws <strong>Joachim Krause<\/strong> historical parallels in German politics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stig F\u00f6rster<\/strong> dedicates his essay <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.degruyterbrill.com\/document\/doi\/10.1515\/sirius-2022-4005\/html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\"Has it all happened before?
