Call for Papers on security policy in space and on the world's oceans

Boundless security. The entanglement of sea and space

Space and the world's oceans are increasingly characterised by economic and geopolitical rivalries. The historical competition for maritime superiority has now also extended into low Earth orbit. Accordingly, security policy can no longer be thought of in isolated areas; the challenges are increasingly interlinked and must be addressed jointly.

Together with the Institute for Qualifying Innovation Research & Consultancythe Institute for Security Policy at the University of Kiel and the Schader Foundation the Foundation for Science and Democracy on 28 and 29 October 2026 organised a two-day conference on security policy issues in space and on the world's oceans at the Schader Forum in Darmstadt.

For this until 15 April 2026 Scientists and representatives of security policy and related fields are invited to submit proposals (max. 2500 characters) for a ten-minute input presentation followed by a discussion. Further information can be found in the CALL FOR PAPERS.
