Since 1 October 2025, the www.hamburger-stiftungen.de a new platform is now online, offering an overview of Hamburg's diverse foundation landscape for the first time. Users can search for specific foundations and their funding programmes. The Porträt der Stiftung Wissenschaft und Demokratie can now be found there.
The database was developed by the BürgerStiftung Hamburg, the Hamburg Foundation Office and the "Engagement Dock" in collaboration with the University of Hamburg Business School. The aim of the project is to make the services offered by Hamburg's foundations more easily accessible and transparent.
At launch, the database already includes over 200 foundation profiles and more than 300 funding programmes - with more to follow. The focus is on a simple, intuitive and accessible search in order to reach people who have previously found it difficult to access foundation funding.
