Kiel Social Science Review

International Tönnies Forum

Kiel Social Science Review

Since 2023, the Kiel Social Science Review from the Ferdinand Toennies Society published twice a year. From 2026, it will be sponsored by SW&D for a total of two years.

The journal, published by Barbara Budrich, contributes to academic discussion in the social sciences, particularly in sociology. On the one hand, it deliberately transcends the narrow disciplinary boundaries of the subject and strengthens the exchange with neighbouring disciplines such as political science, communication studies, philosophy and law. On the other hand, it builds on central discourses of early sociology.

In addition to the printed edition, all contributions are fully open access, ensuring broad national and international visibility and low-threshold access for academics and the public.

Further information and the current issue of the magazine can be found on the Website of the publisher Budrich Journals.

Key decisions (1/2025)

Issue 1/2025 to the title "Key decisions" is dedicated to political decisions that have made history - from Trump's return to the White House and the end of the traffic light coalition to historic decisions such as the founding of the Ministry of the Environment, Agenda 2010 and the debt brake. This issue asks what makes decisions key decisions and when non-decisions also make history.
