DEMOCRACY REFORM AGENDA

Democracy and its adaptability

Democracy Reform Agenda

Democracies thrive on their ability to adapt. In the face of far-reaching social, technological and political changes, the question arises as to how democratic institutions can be further developed so that they remain legitimate, effective and capable of acting in the future.

The Democracy Reform Agenda examines which reforms are both sensible and feasible at federal level in Germany today. To this end, it brings together academia, politics and practitioners, analyses challenges to democratic legitimacy and develops concrete proposals for reform. The aim is to strengthen democratic institutions and to inject new impetus into the public debate on a sustainable democracy.

The Democracy Reform Agenda is a project of the Bertelsmann Foundationthe Foundation Science and Democracy and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, carried out using the Progressive Centre and the Institute for Parliamentary Research.
